This is what's being reported:
On an appearance on Larry King tonight, Republican Representative Michele
Bachmann from the Minnesota 6th district, said in response to a question of
whether or not the VP Dick Cheney should come to the convention:
"I hope everybody comes to Minneapolis."
Hmmm, I wonder if Michele Bachmann will actually make to the Republican
National Convention here in St Paul.

Maybe we should take a poll of Republicans and ask them what city they are
holding their national convention in? Maybe it moved and nobody told us in St
Paul?

The larger question is what was Larry King thinking in giving Bachman a
national forum.
Glad you let us know, Kelly! (Re: Republican Representative Michele Bachmann

Getting back to the crux of the matter: Minneapolis?! That's disgusting, no
matter what party Michelle belongs to, because it happens far too often, no
matter the political party, no matter the topic; coming from out-of-staters and
Minneapolitans alike. Even worse, this was broadcast on national TV! (Shame on
Larry King for not setting her right!) We St. Paulites try so hard to rise out
of the hulking shadow of Mpls., to promote our city and prove we're just as
viable and resourceful an entity.
People who are being interviewed: Stop and think before you talk! And if you're
in some public office, REALLY stop and think first. You were supposedly elected
because of your brains. Use them!
I hope Michelle's office gets flooded with calls of protest!
Katic Couric apologized for it: http://www.startribune.com/politics/state/26276879.html?location_refer=Homepage:highlightModules:9 ""First, CBS News anchor Katie Couric mistakenly said on the air last week that the Republican National Convention is being held in Minneapolis. Monday night, Couric 'fessed up to the nation about her mistake and expressed her "apologies to the people of St. Paul" when signing off on her telecast."" We could buy Michele a t-shirt like the one I bought recently. It says: "THE
BIBLE TALKS ABOUT ST. PAUL, BUT DOESN'T MENTION MINNEAPOLIS." So far, my shirt
has had a wonderful reaction--especially on this side of the Cities.

Expecting Michelle Bachman to think before she speaks is like expecting a pig
to fly. She was also on C-Span yesterday on the Republican side of a debate
about energy policy. She spouted nothing but misinformation, all in support of
drilling for oil in environmentally sensitive areas.
In case you want to voice your disgust over Michele saying Mpls. instead of St. Paul: Sixth District Congresswoman Michele Bachmann Email: <email obscured> Website: http://www.house.gov/kennedy 1415 Longworth House Office Building,Washington, D.C. 20515 (202) 225-2331; Fax: (202) 225-3368 Please people: I advise that you not ramble on about the issue of what your e-mail is about, or it won't be read. Get straight to the point, that Michele said Mpls. when she should have said St. Paul. By the way, you were right, Kelly. I misspelled Michele's first name on my post. Ooops!
So, can we say she's not from Stillwater then? Bayport can have her.
Also attached is a "Winona" post card. If you have Saint Paul versions,
please send it along and we will put it up on the big screen to remind
people where they are.

I'm not sure why the links listed are for Mark Kennedy. Although, I assume you could substitute Bachmann for Kennedy in each and get to her.. Mike Fratto Payne Phalen Please help those who don't get enough to eat. http://oyh.org http://hungersolutions.org The future depends more on what we do between now and then Than what we did in the past.
Andrew,
If there ever was an old-time postcard of Saint Paul (like Winona's) I'd love
to see it too...(Maybe I could help bump up the resolution).
Anyway, I think in the future when we talk about the area around Saint Paul
(often referred to as the "Twin Cities Metro Area"), that instead we refer to
it as the "Saint Paul Metropolitan Area"...has anyone ever used that term????
If not, it's a freebie folks. Let it go forth and multiply.
I have collected old postcards of the high bridge (with the city in the
backgound) from as early as 1904. I also have a picture at home somewhere
of Harriet Island from around the '30's.
I suggest you go to the MN Historical Society Library and the MN History
Museum - the folks there would love to find you pictures and postcards of
old St. Paul

There are postcards of old St. Paul available on EBay, including the one Gloria mentioned. http://cgi.ebay.com/1911-POSTCARD-VIEW-OF-CITY-HIGH-BRIDGE-ST-PAUL-MN_W0QQitemZ250277733500QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item250277733500&_trkparms=72%3A1075%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1318 You could probably copy images of them from the EBay site.
and a few turn of the century images from Phalen Park can be seen at: http://lakephalen.org/photos.htm I have about 15 more of Phalen that will be added eventually. Maybe we should have a showing of all the old postcards of Saint Paul, someday, someplace.... - Rich Kramer **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Getting back to Grace's original post (!) regarding people calling Saint Paul "Minneapolis" (and don't forget that rebranding campaign a few months ago when someone got paid a lot of wampum to change "The Twin Cities" to "Minneapolis Saint Paul -- More to life"... http://www.minnpost.com/steveberg/2008/01/23/664/check_out_this_brand_minneapolis_saint_paul_
