Of course the district needs to close a school. It should be the board's number one item to save money. Too bad the district already built the ALC building; we would have had an empty school to use for the ALC students. Linda Fort Ridgeway
If Central School is to be closed: Consider it as the new site for Winona's Senior Friendship Center! There is an adjoining area for the much-needed parking.and perhaps outdoor activities or "green space". There is an elevator for access to more than one floor. There are rooms which could be designated for separate small functions. There is a large area for group functions. Community Education, also used by many seniors, could remain. Perhaps space could be allocated for other services for Seniors? Offerings would be more accessible to residents of Watkins Manor. The site is more-or-less centrally located. Perhaps the City of Winona could make a bid for it? .
