was involved with was with a Minnesota Senator, Al Franken -- but this is of
course also a national issue, so I'm posting it here also --

BREAKING NEWS – Widespread reports that Attorney General Jeff Sessions may have
lied at his confirmation hearing are factually wrong – a new video shows
Sessions said the opposite of what FactCheck.org reported when he answered Sen.
Al Franken’s question

Minneapolis 3/13/17 – Widespread media reports that Attorney General Jeff
Sessions may have lied at his confirmation hearing are factually wrong. This
appears due at least partly to a major error by FactCheck.org in their
transcript of Sessions’ answers to Sen. Al Franken. A new one minute video by
“Candidate-Journalist” Bob “Again” Carney Jr. -- “bobagain” for short --
documents the error. The video is on youtube.com at the “bobagain channel”:

As of March 13th the crucial section of that transcript still reads: “… and I
didn’t have — did not have communications with the Russians…”

However, when we talk without a script, we sometimes start to say one thing…
then we start over and say something else. As shown in bobagain’s video, that
happened at the hearing. Sessions first said: “… and I didn’t have…” then he
started over and said: “… and I have communications with the Russians.”

“Let’s be clear” bobagain said in the video – “… and I have…[plays enhanced
tape of that phrase as spoken by Sessions] is the opposite of “… did not have…
Sessions didn’t lie, the reports are wrong,” bobagain concluded.

The brief video ends with this statement: “We the People must demand that the
‘Mainstream Media’ set the record straight. They must retract and correct
their false reports of this major story.”

Fake news again from Bob Again; this is a real stretch and could devolve into a
discussion of southern accents, contractions, and intricacies of transcribing
this or that. I don’t see or hear anything much different than the transcript;
I suppose since Sessions does say later he can’t talk about it, that he *may*
have meant to say he met in another capacity than his role with the Trump
campaign with the Russian ambassador, but that would be a total guess on
anyone’s part, and wishful thinking on Bob’s part to get some sort of
retraction.

Candidate-journalist Bobagain hears "...and I have communications..." where,
like most others, I hear "[a slurred 'did'] not have communications...."

1. Even Bobagain agrees that Mr. Sessions used the word "communications." Why,
when the question mentioned past communications, would he respond that he has
communications, that is, why would he put it in the present tense? Wouldn't he
have said, "...and I have communicated with..." or "...and I have had
communications with..."?

2. If candidate-journalist Bobagain is correct, why would Mr. Sessions write
the following in a letter to the Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary
Committee, in response to their request for an explanation of what he had said:
"I did not mention communications I had had with the Russian ambassador over
the years because the question did not ask about them''?

3. If candidate-journalist Bobagain is correct, why would Mr. Sessions, give
these answers in writing to the following written questions submitted to him
after his confirmation hearing?

If Mr. Sessions did say in the hearing that he had had communications with the
Russians, surely he wouldn't have responded in writing that he was not aware of
a basis to recuse himself from an investigation of Trump's campaign advisors
communicating with the Russians.

I hope candidate-journalist Bobagain's qualifications as candidate are better
than his qualifications as a journalist.

Bob is correct that the factcheck.org transcript is inaccurate. The transcript
reads as follows, “And I didn't have—-did not have…”. I hear Sessions
statement as follows,““And I didn't have—-not have…”, with no “did following
the pause. The question of whether the next word following the pause is “not”
or “I” is I think debatable. Chuck Turchick and others, commenting on this
thread, have it as “not have” and Bob hears it as “I have” or if we are to go
by Bob’s transcript it says “and I have” following the pause.

If I am hearing Sessions correctly, both factcheck.org" and Bob got the
transcript wrong, where bob has an “and” which does not exist in Sessions
statement, as I hear it. That is true regardless of the larger question of
whether Sessions is saying “I have,” as Bob is claiming, or “not have” as Chuck
Turchick, and others on this thread are claiming.

I think the best explanation for what is going on here, if as I assume,
everyone is being honest about their perceptions, is that either those
commenting on this thread, or Bob, are experiencing an audio illusion. Audio
illusion are common and are similar to visual illusions. Experiencing visual
illusions, as in experiencing audio illusions, is not indicative of any sort of
abnormally, mental illness or lack of intelligence. Unlike Hallucinations,
where one perceives something that has no existence in reality, and are
sometimes associated with a mental disorder, hallucinogenic drugs, or religious
experiences, illusions are based on a false perception of something that does
exist in reality and may be perceived by the same person in more than one way,
at different times and in slightly different circumstances. They are entirely
normal and are based on the way the human brain is wired.

While it seems the evidence so far would indicate that most people on this
thread, everyone except Bob, hear something different than Bob, is not I think
proof that Bob is wrong. In the case of visual illusions, often times, most
people see them in the same way and most people (perhaps everyone), is/are
wrong. The majority on this thread may be wrong here too.

What is most convincing to me is that Sessions has not taken exception to the
factcheck.org assertion that he said “not have.” I would think that trump (I
don’t capitalize his name intentionally) would be twittering up a storm, that
would make the “Obama tapped my phone” twitter storm, pale in comparison, if he
or Sessions thought that Bob’s version of his statement to Senator Franklin was
correct. Otherwise that would make sense only if there were some kind of deep
conspiracy that Sessions and trump were both in on, which seems unlikely.

I am also concerned that Bob, while he is investigating this, is not
investigating all of the thousands of misstatements of fact, some would call
them lies, that trump has been spewing since before he started running for
President. His implication that Obama was born in Kenya comes to mind, as does
his statement that, “Obama tapped my wires,” or more people were at his
inauguration than were at Obama’s inauguration.

An organization with a name like factcheck.org should, at the very least have
its facts straight. In this case, it clearly did not have all of the facts
reported correctly. In the past I have quoted them confidently and I have
quoted the results of, its parent organization, the Annenberg Public Police
Center surveys, and the statements of its director, Kathleen Hall Jamieson,
even more confidently. I have for example cited their surveys in making my case
that most Native Americans do not think the name “Redskins” is offensive. At
the time, I think Chuck Turchick questioned the reliability and the
impartiality of that survey. Now, I too, am less confident in the Annenberg
survey results. Fortunately, I now have the new Washington Post survey, which
confirms the Annenberg results in its assertion that over 90% of Native
Americans either do not object to, or like the name “Redskins,” so I no longer
have to rely on the Annenberg survey.

I just thought I should get that in there to show that I, as a leftist, have no
difficulty calling out fellow leftists when they makes false statements. I want
to set a good example for Bob, who as a Republican, should not be reluctant, as
he seems to be, about calling out fellow Republicans when they make false
statements, or as some less generous than I would say, “when they lie”.
