The St. Paul E-Democracy Outreach Committee is currently running a survey to help us determine how to move forward with our Rondo programming. Please help us out by taking this survey. Please click on the following link to take the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=th82mAXVnoRin1t1nb5wkA_3d_3d . For more information about SPED-Outreach, please go to http://pages.e-democracy.org/SPED-Outreach .
When will the workshop begin. I'm very interested in doing some sort of civic engagement using the electronic media. Thanks, Michael Karp

Our next workshop will be Staying Safe Online; the materials for this workshop can be found at http://pages.e-democracy.org/Internet_Safety . Finally, please take our survey; it can be found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=th82mAXVnoRin1t1nb5wkA_3d_3d . Keep reading for more information about all of these topics.
Sorry there wasn't any Update last week. I'll try to get back to a weekly Update schedule. Coming up this Monday, we will be walking workshop participants through the process of building their own website, starting from the most basic aspects of website creation. This is intended to be a workshop for those with very little (if any) background in the topic, but we will cover a lot of ground. Also, St. Paul E-Democracy's Outreach Committee has put together a survey about our work at Rondo. The survey contains an evaluation component, so we are particularly interested in getting responses from our current and former workshop participants. The survey can be taken by going to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=th82mAXVnoRin1t1nb5wkA_3d_3d . Finally, we will be repeating our spring schedule this summer on Mondays and Wednesdays in July, so tell your friends and encourage them to come.
As of Monday morning, the E-Democracy email server is apparently now delivering some emails and eating others (without bouncing them). This means that emails sent to an @e-democracy.org account may or may not be delivered, and that there isn't really a good way at this point to figure out how many emails I'm not getting. Additionally, the server was apparently down entirely for long periods over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We are trying to fix this problem asap; if anyone has been unable to reach me, please feel free to call 651-808-7363.
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day. Coming up, we have a Blogging workshop on June 2, followed by a Podcasting workshop on June 9. Also, are any of you interested in helping teach a future blogging workshop? My time with E-Democracy is coming to an end soon, and we'd like to start finding new volunteers to take my place. This Monday's workshop would be the perfect time for you to come out and help teach. If you're interested in helping with Blogging (or any of our other workshops, for that matter), send me an email at <email obscured> .
Hi all. Sorry there was no post last week. We had a great video workshop this past Monday anyway, featuring the Minnesota Minute contest from the Bell Museum (see http://bellmuseum.org/blog/?p=6). Coming up, we have a Blogging workshop on June 2, followed by a Podcasting workshop on June 9.
Today is the first day of May, which means the beginning of our new "Intro to Online Tools" workshop series. Meant to be enjoyed either as an eight-week class or eight individual classes, this workshop series is designed to introduce participants to the communication, collaboration and advocacy opportunities presented by the Internet. Our next workshop, the first in this series, is E-Tools for Citizen Participation. It is a great introduction to the series and to the variety of tools available online, so I encourage you to attend and to recommend it to others. Keep reading this week's St. Paul Update for more information about this and other topics.
In our upcoming workshop, Mike Dean will be presenting on cool tools for community organizing. Also, St. Paul E-Democracy's Outreach committee is having its monthly meeting right before the workshop, so come a little early and help us plan out our upcoming programming. Finally, our May-June workshop series is beginning soon; this time, we're running it as an eight-session class, rather than a bunch of individual workshops, so if you know someone who would benefit from our full curriculum, this would be a great time to suggest that they start attending. Keep reading for more information on this and other topics.
Our upcoming workshop will cover the basics of internet safety, including protecting your computer, your personal information and your children. This is a great workshop, so I hope to see many of you there. Also, the two meetings I mentioned last week have been moved: the SPED-Outreach meeting is now April 28, and the Digital Inclusion Roundtable will not be taking place till next month. Finally, our May-June workshop series is beginning soon; this time, we're running it as an eight-session class, rather than a bunch of individual workshops, so if you know someone who would benefit from our full curriculum, this would be a great time to suggest that they start attending. The April Digital Inclusion Roundtable that was supposed to be scheduled for Thursday, April 17, has been canceled. The next one will probably take place on Thursday, May 15.
Hi, and if you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, welcome to St. Paul Updates. Finally, we need tabling volunteers; if you are available to volunteer on Monday, April 14 or Monday, April 21, from 4-6pm, please contact me at <email obscured>. Keep reading for more information about these and other topics.
Hi, and if you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, welcome to St. Paul Updates. Our upcoming workshop (April 7th) will be on Blogs and Blogging; it will introduce participants to blogs and their uses, as well as RSS and the more technical aspects of running a blog. We also need volunteers for our upcoming tabling sessions and workshops, particularly for the April 7th tabling, so I encourage you to pick a day (or more) that fits your schedule. Keep reading for information about these topics and more.
Hi, and if you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, welcome to St. Paul Updates. I also want to thank Tim for helping with last Monday's workshop, and I want to thank everyone who filled out the computer use survey, which is now closed. Keep reading for more information.
Hi, and if you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, welcome to St. Paul Updates. Our next workshop will be on the basics of recording, editing and posting video online for free. Keep reading for more info on these topics, as well as a follow-up to last Monday's "Building Your Own Website" workshop.
Hi, and if you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, welcome to St. Paul Updates. Next week's workshop will be an introduction to the basics of building a website, from HTML to Content Management Systems and Hosting. Our monthly planning meeting is also next week, right before the workshop, so I encourage you to come for both. Finally, next week is the last week for filling out the Community Technology Survey, so if you haven't done so yet, please do it now. For more information about these topics and more, please keep reading.
Hi, and if you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, welcome to St. Paul Updates. Next week's workshop will focus on Social Networking websites, including Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and Ning. I also want to encourage anyone who has not taken the Community Technology Survey on the library's website to do so (see link below). Finally, I want to remind everyone that E-Democracy volunteers are available every Monday at Rondo Library, from 4-6pm, to answer questions about E-Democracy or any of the e-tools we cover in our workshops.
