about this or have any advice for them?

P.S. Geek on. The article mentions setting up Facebook pages and
mini-websites for businesses ... let me just say that Facebook Pages
are NOT very effective at sustained contact but they are cheap. What
you want at a minimum is a small biz website with a blog and
*integrated e-mail subscribe option for updates* that auto-feeds a
Facebook Page and Twitter account. I hope they use WordPress. Geek
off.
Caught my eye today:

For $1.2 million, Central Corridor marketing goes “MOD”

It’s been a while in coming, but sometime on or about July 10, expect
to see a new marketing push for Central Corridor businesses.
This one will be a bit more targeted than the “Discover Central
Corridor” coupon books, discount card and ad campaign that rolled out
about a year ago.
The latest effort comes from the St. Paul-based MOD & Co. advertising
agency, which was recently contracted to market the corridor by the
city of St. Paul on behalf of the Met Council.
It’s a $1.2 million effort, and many business owners impacted by
Central Corridor construction are hoping it pays off.
Sean McDonnell, a public relations rep working with MOD & Co. on the
new marketing push, said the idea is to break up the 11 miles of light
rail corridor into eight “nodes,” or business districts, each with
their own brand or logo.
For instance, billboards in Prospect Park near the University of
Minnesota will likely be different than those in Lowertown.
“That’s important from a marketing standpoint,” McDonnell said. “It
just makes it easier to highlight business districts, as opposed to
just saying ‘Come to the Central Corridor.’”
