I am the new forum manager, and I'm excited by this volunteer opportunity. We
want to build the most vibrant, active, and beneficial online community we can,
and I joined because I believe I can help make it happen. On-line
communications are fundamentally different than face-to-face, and need constant
care and feeding to succeed. However, the results are well worth it, and
ultimately provide for much richer relationships. Here are some thoughts:
Mac Groveland has a lot going on. I've lived here for 30 years, and I've only
scratched the surface. I was driving around today and noticed lots of places
I've never been. I started the topic "Mac Groveland Neighborhood Icons" to
start highlighting cool places in the neighborhood. I'd love to see snapshots
of everybody's favorites. (I say 'snapshots' purposefully - cell phone pictures
are fine.)
We need common interests in order to have a dialogue, and I hope to illuminate
them through "Neighborhood Icons" and other topics. I will link to references,
organizations, websites, articles, etc. in order to generate activity. I'd like
to see a mix of business, social, cultural, educational, and government/civic
topics in our forum, and appreciate any ideas anyone cares to share.
Anyhoo, I could blab on about my views, but I will just try to "walk the walk"
through my postings. I just set up the Mac Groveland Networking LinkedIn group,
and look forward to hearing from you and meeting you at neighborhood events.
(There is another 'MG list introduction' topic here:
http://forums.e-democracy.org/r/post/21FT0QHl37SLlm6GwiwjCr I started a new one
for 2013 to highlight new introductions, and to encourage everyone to post
regularly. I encourage new members to post a short introduction to say 'hi',
and re-introduce yourself if it's been a while.)
