Congo. They moved to Minnesota a little over two years ago. They currently live
in St Paul. Star Tribune did an article on them and refugees:

The family faced unimaginable horrors, including poisoning, before moving here.
Those they left behind face ongoing atrocities- murders, rapes. Much of the
wars relate to the mineral coltan, a mineral considered a conflict mineral
because of all the violence in DRC. The Mihigo family are distant relatives of
Denis Mukwefe, who won a Nobel Peace Prize for work in ending sexual violence
as a weapon of war.
You can hear the story of what the family faced in DRC before moving here and
what continues to happen tonight (Jan 3) at 11pm on UC Berkeley radio station
KALX, Soap Box Derby show. It is definitely an eye opener, worth
hearing. http://www.kalx.berkeley.edu/home
