Paul, Chris Coleman won 51.8 percent of the vote, while mayor Randy Kelly
received 26.7 percent of the vote. Green Party candidate Elizabeth Dickinson
won about 20 percent of the votes cast.
Since there remained only 1.5% of the vote left for all the other candidates, I
do think it is not credible, or accurate, to state that the "Green Party
candidate came very close to defeating the incumbent Mayor." Even if she had
received the remaining votes, she would have fallen short of Mayor Kelly by
over 5% of the total votes....(and let's also consider factoring in Kelly's
support of President Bush and what that did to reduce his numbers.)

Subject: [SPIF] What happened to St. Paulâs Green Party?
In the last mayoral primary, the Green Party candidate came very close to
defeating the incumbent Mayor. Given the major flubs of the current incumbent,
why hasn't the Green Party dusted off the lawn signs and run an opposing
candidate?
