info as to which is right.
Once source claims it was where I-94 is now, between Concordia and Saint
Anthony. The other source claims it was where Concordia is now.
I haven't looked into this issue deeply, but I can see evidence for both
In favour of the Concordia theory:
The spacing between Concordia and Saint Anthony is the same as between
other east-west streets in the area, 1/16 of a mile. An extra street between
them would seem out of place, as well as resulting in blocks only 1/32 of a
mile wide, which would essentially put the backs of Rondo Ave. buildings
directly at Concordia and Saint Anthony.
In favour of the I-94 theory:
Yet Rondo was apparently a commercial street, whereas modern day Concordia
is mostly residential. Or were most of the commercial buildings on the north
side, which was demolished for I-94? Also, why did the name of the street have
to be changed?
Which is right? Any experts here?
