went through Linwood/Ramsey/Central. In that time, I saw many great effective
programs cut. As far as I am concerned the public school system is on
starvation income. Our public schools have been doing great for the money they
have! The educational funds cutting was done on purpose by the current
Republican leadership in power! Even now, Pawlenty is planning to veto a bill
that would fund schools better. The proof is in looking at other countries. I
was talking to a person from India, who said that they truly learned from the
Minnesota Miracle and funded education generously. We here in Minnesota went in
a decline of education spending. So India is thriving now and we are declining.
We have a party in power who does not believe in good government. While the
Democratic party is all about good government, the Republican stated official
policy was best captured in Grover Norquist: 'Field Marshal' of the Bush Plan
"My goal is to cut government in half in twenty-five years," he says, "to get
it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub." The Republicans are
the party that hates government, the party that wants to drown government in a
bathtub. The continued decline of funding for education, transportation and
other government investment proves that they have succeeded. Certainly, any
comparison of education across countries shows our decline. How can an ideology
that holds as a truism that government can't work, work?
