"After two ballots, the St. Paul Better Ballot Campaign and its supporters
earned 61% of the vote to earn the St. Paul DFL endorsement of Instant Runoff
Voting. Yeee haaaawww"
** This is the first line of an undated "news article" on their website:
http://stpaul.betterballotcampaign.org/node/786<http://stpaul.betterballotcampaign.org/node/786>
BBC KNOWS this is not true (the city DFL endorsed IRV in 2007, but was
specifically NOT endorsed at the 2009 DFL convention)- but, even though a
complaint was made to them, this MISLEADING, UNDATED article remains on their
website.
** Also on their website, listed under the heading of Political Party
Endorsements (
http://stpaul.betterballotcampaign.org/supporters_parties<http://stpaul.betterballotcampaign.org/supporters_parties>
) is the Saint Paul DFL:
Political Parties<http://stpaul.betterballotcampaign.org/supporters_parties>
Political Party Endorsements
a.. Minnesota DFL
b.. Minneapolis DFL
c.. Saint Paul DFL
d.. DFL Progressive Caucus
e.. DFL Feminist Caucus
f.. Independence Party of Minnesota
g.. Green Party of Minnesota
h.. Libertarian Party of Minnesota
They have been asked to remove these erroneous, misleading, false claims of
support of Major Political Parties (in violation of Section 211B.02 of the
Minnesota Statutes - State Campaign Laws) BUT THEY HAVE NOT.
They CANNOT allege that a misunderstanding has culminated in this false claim
of support of the St. Paul DFL. They KNOW they lost at the 2009 City
Convention. They KNOW the DFL sample ballot does not endorse Vote Yes on the
ballot question. When is this going to end? Maybe there needs to be another
complaint and inquiry into the violation of State Campaign laws by BBC and its
employees. Violations of many of our State Campaign Laws can be prosecuted as
crimes - this isn't merely a slap on the wrist. In addition, violations can
cause a candidate/ballot question to be removed from a race or to Lose - even
if they have the votes to win. THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF !!!
