799 loudspeakers broadcast sound into the TCF Bank
bowl. The bowl becomes a gigantic
loudspeaker #800 as it reflects the sound. Loudspeaker #800 is surrounded by
roads, parking lots, and a
largely vacant quarter-mile-wide railroad trench. There’s little nearby
vegetation or tall buildings to absorb
and reflect the giant speaker bowl sound. So, it travels for miles into the
St. Anthony Park
neighborhood in St. Paul.
The State’s premiere research institution has just spent
$300 million on the world’s largest loudspeaker.
Hooyah! The
Brainpower State.
And it for only seven games a year.

Its also within a two mile sea of unhappy ppl that are too cranky to get
excited about the atmosphere it creates around campus. I think that's pretty
unfortunate especially since my tuition helped build it. My regret is that I
didn't get to enjoy it while I was on campus... I wish folks around it would
accept that its there now and rally behind what will become the icon of all the
university nhoods even those in st paul. Where I grew up the sound of the 800
loudspeakers was a beacon like a churchbell but more fun - you knew it was an
event and you wanted to be a part of it.
Cool. Maybe you two should switch housing.
