*E-DEMOCRACY | Playing the blame game in education

the most significant problem in education right now is that no one is
willing to take ultimate responsibility for the welfare of all children.
Teachers blame parents or kids, while parents, some politicians, and
administrators blame teachers. Teachers in turn blame administrators--or
school board members. School board members blame the state or the federal
government for a lack of funds or onerous expectations or whatever, while
the state or federal government mandates an ever-changing patchwork of
rules and regulations--and the cycle just perpetuates itself. Rarely, if
ever, do you hear anybody willing to take responsibility or be held
accountable, except in ways where there are no real consequences.*

about how I would change the riverfront to make it an awesome destination
and resistant to disruption by flooding. The first thing I’d do is get rid
of Warner/Shepard Road between the Upper Landing at Chestnut Street all the
way down to the Lafayette Bridge. *
* Hamline's adjunct union raises skepticism for some

Earlier this month, adjunct faculty members at Hamline voted to create the
first adjunct union in Minnesota. But as adjuncts at other private schools
in the Twin Cities gear up to vote to unionize, some are hesitant to move
forward. Adjuncts at other private institutions have shown uncertainty
about unionizing, and the University of Minnesota’s adjuncts don’t appear
eager to join the nation’s growing trend either. *
