Please join me in celebrating yet another Little Free Library
<http://www.littlefreelibrary.org/> in Highland! Check out the photo and
click the link to learn more about this marvelous opportunity to celebrate
and share the love of reading with neighbors. It's a "take one, return one"
free library for anyone who'd like to participate. In conjunction with
neighbors, we've stocked it with books for both adults and children. We
installed it yesterday early afternoon and within less than an hour we had
new library "patrons" stopping by on foot and by car to borrow/leave books
(as I am typing this there is a guy standing on my boulevard taking a photo
of the new Little Free Library - how fun!)
For our Little Free Library, we adopted an even more neighborly approach by
sharing the $300 cost of this model + the mounting post among our neighbors.
We haven't raised the whole amount yet, though, so if you're one of the
hundreds of people who walk or drive by every day and want to support this
wonderful effort, feel free to drop a contribution envelope in my mailbox.
And don't worry about going "over" the cost - any funds beyond the actual
cost I will donate back to the Little Free Library
<http://www.littlefreelibrary.org/> organization to help them provide these
little free libraries in neighborhoods and communities where people can't
afford them.
As a long-standing and strong supporter of our exceptional St. Paul Public
Library system, I relish this small and casual adjunct to our community-wide
effort to deepen people's love of books, reading, and learning - hooray!
