this month and learned his organization was working on gathering community
input about branding this end of University Avenue (and possibly the
surrounding area) as "Little Mekong" to celebrate the many Asian businesses,
residents, institutions in the area. We know about the various "Chinatown,"
"Germantown" and "Little Italy" neighborhoods across the country and, for most
cities, branding an area brings in tourists, boosting the economy as a result.
AEDA thinks this strategy could help the businesses in the area stay here as
well as market to a larger customer base in prep for light rail.
