Hello,
My name is Allison Herrera and I work at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
On view we have an exhibit called Worlds Away: new Suburban Landscapes
http://calendar.walkerart.org/canopy.wac?id=4048
It's all about art making in response to the growing changes and culture in the
suburbs.
One of our public programs is a panel discussion called Next Exit: The Shifting
Landscape of Suburbia
http://calendar.walkerart.org/event.wac?id=4324
It includes people from the Metropolitan Design Center at the University of
Minnesota, Dan Bergin of Twin Cities Public Television, and Michael Lander of
the Lander Group.
This discussion is not about bashing the suburbs. Rather, it's about addressing
the changes taking place in our metro area such as a population shift, where
natural resources will come from to accommodate people moving to the suburbs in
the next twenty years, and the rise of foreclosures in the suburbs as of late.
We would love it if you could attend and spread the word to interested parties.
Best,
Allison Herrera
