these viewings of the 3 part series called Race: the Power of an Illusion. The
series will be held on November 1, 15, and 29 from 7-9 pm. Each one will be
shown at a different local church. Each video is an hour long, followed by
time for a discussion.
"The Difference Between Us" examines the science (including genetics) that
challenges our assumptions that humans can be bundled into three or four groups
according to physical traits. This one will be shown on November 1 at Galilee
Lutheran Church, 145 McCarrons Blvd.
"The Story We Tell" uncovers the roots of race in America, how it was
legitimized and adopted, and how it continues to serve to rationalize and
justify social inequalities. This one will be shown on November 15 at Calvary
Baptist Church, 2120 Lexington Ave. N.
"The House We Live In" uncovers how race resides in politics, economics and
culture, not nature, and reveals how social institutions channel resources,
status and wealth to white people. This one will be shown on November 29 at
Church of Corpus Christi, 2131 Fairview Ave N.
