Here are our draft strategies for residential conservation and efficiency. Are
these the most important strategies? How much residential energy use can we
save in our region?
1. Promote / develop green homes
2. Provide financing and funding for energy efficiency
3. Adopt new regulatory measures for energy efficiency
4. Advocate for energy conservation / efficiency
5. Promote Energy Star products/programs
6. Promote energy conservation at the residential level
7. Adopt regional, national, international models for residential energy
conservation / efficiency
Yes, these 7 items are great.
One thing that's probably covered in this list is to get residential efficiency
going via home energy audits. Sadly, in my area of Ashfield, you can't get one
of these right now. WMECO "has no funding" to do audits right now and they're
putting folks on a waiting list to get one, should money become available.
That's a shame, as this is one of the primary ways home owners learn how to
make their houses more efficient...
So I'd say some sort of legislative advocacy to get these programs
mandated/funded would be a priority.
