on Cuckoo Lane between Pullens Lane and Franklin Road on Monday (18 March).
Work is expected to take six weeks, and Cuckoo Lane will remain open during the
work, but will be narrowed.
Apparently gravel will be rolled into the surface afterwards, which will make
it look less unpleasant.
I heard nothing about this until yesterday afternoon. Do other people think it
strange that this work is taking place without any consultation? Cuckoo Lane
has only just been declared a Heritage Asset, and is covered by the Headington
Neighbourhood Plan.
In addition in 2013 the Planning Inspectorateās report on the draft Sites and
Housing Local Plan made this correction:
"The supporting text to policy SP19 inaccurately refers to Cuckoo Lane as being
a pedestrian and cycleway. (MM22) would correct this by deleting ācycle routeā,
and it would clarify that Cuckoo Lane should be retained as green route that
would be wide enough to support its additional role as a wildlife corridor."

Itās not going to be a very wide āwildlife corridorā with a three-metre wide
stretch of tarmac running the length of it, and I rate the chances of it not
becoming a cycle route as slim.
