energy pipe between the JR and the Churchill [I'm aware that the 'disruption'
thread is hard to read in some formats - hence starting a new thread].
It's worth people in the wider area noting the changes in this set of road
closures as they are different, and are causing some dangerous driving today.
As before, Latimer Road is closed. The closure is a little further down the
road between Latimer Grange and McMaster House. Hopefully few people will turn
in from London Road only to have to turn back out again.
The other set is in Lime Walk, where the road is now one-way only from Old Road
to the junction with All Saints, so you can only drive north. I've seen a
handful of cars & bikes ignore that today: this isn't like the normal 'road
closed ahead' scheme where road users seem happy to take a chance that it's not
really shut - it's a one-way street they're driving the wrong way up.
For people used to two routes being open between London & Old Roads (without
going around Gipsy Lane or Windmill Road) now you've only got Lime Walk or New
High Street, All Saints and Stapleton or Bickerton if you're going south, and
Lime Walk if you're going north. A nasty surprise awaits the many people who
used to go Lime Walk, All Saints and then Latimer...
There's no signage at the moment warning drivers of this in advance. You only
get told when you're right on top of the closed junction - hence tying to warn
people via this forum.
In two weeks time they'll close Sandfield Road at its junction with London
Road.
