As soon as we spotted the Waitrose name on the filling station planning application, we invited Waitrose to send a speaker to our Headington Ward Focus meeting - their manager (or substitute) is coming along to explain their plans on Tues 24 June at Headington Baptist Church, 6.00-7.30pm. We've also invited police along following the Oxford Mail story that 20 mph enforcement throughout Oxford will be carried out by Thames Valley Police.
We have a Co-Op, a Waitrose, a Londis, an Iceland, a Sainsburys, a Morrisons, a Tesco (soon) and in time a mini Waitrose. Have I missed one?
Will this be a meeting where the attendees will be falling on their knees begging the police to prosecute anyone (apart form themselves) doing more than 21mph?
Maybe the competition is for the better, even though it seems a bit over the top. There is a lot of Brookes people close by that need convenience food etc. More choice is better in my mind, it has to be better than the good old days of just Fine Fare that closed at 6 on a Friday! and no weekend shopping.
