commiserating with Northway for the shoddy treatment we receive and will
continue to receive from now on, they maybethinking we should be “ thankful
that the last piece of the jigsaw is falling into place” and that the “
proposals have been well thought out” [let’s forget that the Entry and Exit
plans were left trailing well behind the house building plans, being the real
reason why Northway has been dragged into this rat-run plan]. Also, our
traffic problem seems of no concern , when from Barton we hear “One of the main
things people will ask about is the traffic going through BARTON when the work
starts” In today’s words “TELL US ABOUT IT!!!!”
Of course, I can see why people wouldn’t give much thought to our plight, when
Councillors, via the newspapers, are spreading it about that their plan is to
integrate Northway with Barton, when if the truth be known, Barton no more
wants to be integrated with us than we wish to be integrated with them. That
is nothing against you Barton. The fact is, we are all adults, living our
lives as and where we see fit, we make our own friends, do our jobs, have our
hobbies and sports as normal human beings are in the habit of doing. We have
friends scattered all over the country and indeed throughout the world, and are
quite capable of choosing and making our own friends. It is ludicrous to
pretend that we need Councils to decide that we need to integrate with someone
on another estate ------ESPECIALLY OVER A BUSY RING ROAD, but if we should so
wish, you may be sure we will do so without ridiculous plans to bring this
about.
So why don’t you come clean and stop all this nonsense. You no more care who
we integrate with, than the man in the moon.
Have the courage to say that you have involved us, because it is the easiest
answer to your problems, which we all feel should have been well and truly
aired before or along with the building plans. You haven’t even offered the
slightest comfort to us, while you boast about not having bedrooms facing the
Ring Road and making sure that the linear trees are a protection from noise and
pollution, whilst arguing at the Town Hall on Monday, that you have no evidence
that the trees you cut down on
Northway, were a barrier against noise!!! Most people would agree that if
they are a barrier one side, they really must be a barrier the other side.
It was only under great pressure that “our” Councillor said that trees could be
planted either side of the slip road, if there were any gaps I presume, but
there again, that was only after we had complained bitterly about no-one caring
about our problems, when they were the same as the problems being well taken
care of on the new estate – when it is all for their benefit anyway.
Call me bitter, but I am sure some of you must see this is an extremely
one-sided, unbalanced plan, minus empathy?
