I think that today I saw the worst act of destruction and disrespect ever.Today
was a clean up day at Woodgrange Park cemetery. when I got there some one said
go and have a look at the war memorial ..which I did , some moron or morons
have smashed the top of the obelisk ,and
stolen the bronze sword ,lying on the paved part of the memorial are three
large pieces from the top which have hit the base on the way down breaking a
lump out of that as well, another piece of stone lying on the platform is half
of a stone vase the base of which is on the base of the obelisk the vase had
the words dad on it.So not only did this rubbish smash the memorial and steal
the bronze sword they also used someone elses memorial vase to do it . Our
chairman who is a retired major couldnt even talk about it he was so upse.The
cemetery owners and the relevant authorities will be informed and maybe this
cross will be replaced by one made of fibre glass which is apparently what they
are doing in areas where there may be a risk of theft or vandalism,but I just
found this act of vandalism so sick I just stood there for about 20 minutes
looking at all the names on the walls at the back of the obelisk and those on
the stone at the front, I thought about my grandad and all those that gave
their lives . Some people think it was stolen for the money they would get for
the metal, I am not so sure, but if they dont get whats coming to them in this
life then I hope that these excuses for people who have no respect for anything
or anyone rot in hell.
