Two things. 1. He doesnt mention anything about cutting his own SRA. 2. mike law who i thought was a conservative brought this up a year ago and has been battling away with it. why hasnt the local tories done something and it been left to the cpa?
Given that Allan Craig only gets an extra £3,500 for being leader of the
opposition group (on top of his £10,500 standard councillor's allowance) he's
hardly milking the public purse.
The real issue is the very large allowances being paid to a very large number
of Labour members, often for very little 'responsibility'.
I'm not a supporter of the CPA, but good luck to Allan Craig with this. He
won't get anywhere and the Recorder will bury it, but it's something that
deserves to be challenged.
Predictably, the CPA motion went down to a crashing defeat on Monday.
Allan Craig says they will be returning to the issue in the future. And losing,
no doubt.
