It was an impressive and diverse group of candidates who, if elected, would be
a Park Board reflective of the diverse population of Minneapolis regarding age,
gender and racial diversity. Two of the candidates are current
commissioners--Steffanie Musich and Meg Forney. One is a former
commissioner--Tom Nordyke.
The candidates and the districts they are running for are:
Billy Menz, teacher and coach (District 1)
Mike Tate, long time MPRB coach (District 2)
Abdi "Gurhan," small businessman and parks supporter (District 3)
Tom Nordyke, former MPRB commissioner and president (District 4)
Steffanie Musich, MPRB incumbent District 5 commissioner (District 5)
Meg Forney, MPRB incumbent At-Large commissioner (At-Large)
LaTrisha Vetaw, advocate for the MPRB's tobacco-free policy (At-large)
I suggest that Minneapolis voters pay attention to the Park Board race and
familiarize themselves with these candidates in particular.
