From here you can now search city employee salary information for
Minneapolis and St. Paul.
I figure this is something the city could do directly as an act of
open and transparent government. Why like the media get the credit.
I did note this on the city home page on the bottom left:
http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us
Salary Compliance Notice
Minnesota Law requires cities notify residents of the positions and
base salaries of its three highest-paid employees. For Minneapolis,
the employees, their titles and salaries as of March 1, 2010 are:
1. Steven Bosacker, City Coordinator, $147,154
2. Tim Dolan, Chief of Police, $144,858
3. Timothy Giles, Director
Employee Services, $144,064
What is interesting is that the text is rather gray - hey, city
friends be proud and embrace openness so you get the good credit you
deserve.

P.S. I am working on a national Sunshine 2.0 guide for the League of
Women Voters. If transparency interests you, see:
http://pages.e-democracy.org/Sunshine_2.0
Also note that in 2008 U.S. Municipalities E-Governance survey,
Minneapolis ranks 3rd in Citizen Participation nationally. Good start.
Let's be #1!!!
