mountain bikes donated by the Midtown Greenway Coalitionfrom an old program of
theirs. They run out to the parking lot and ride in circles, giggling. Some
boys on their way to soccer stop to chat with them and admire their bikes. One
girl helps another adjust her helmet strap.
THEATER REVIEW | Nightpath Theatre's The Three Sisters: Spring fever
http://tcdailyplanet.net/node/59064
by Jay Gabler, TC Daily Planet • Any local production of Chekhov's The Three
Sisterscan be considered a site-specific production, if you consider the state
of Minnesota a site. The characters are bound to their town by family, friends,
and property. Some are content with their lot, and others long to escape, but
all are defined by the limitations imposed on them by their distance from the
metropolis. If only they could go to New York—er, Moscow—their problems would
be solved. Or not. MONDAY PICK | Justin Townes Earle lets loose at the Varsity
Theater
http://tcdailyplanet.net/node/58782
by Jay Gabler, TC Daily Planet • Country music's tepid ballads about family
loyalty can cloy, but the genre does fare better than most in creating
multi-generation dynasties: the Carter-Cash family, the three Hanks, even Jeff
and Spencer Tweedy. At 30, Justin Townes Earle has already struggled long and
hard with the demons his dad Steve notoriously overcame: rehab, arrests, drama
with his own kids and ex-lovers. Is this the sunny side for Justin Townes
Earle? Yes or no, he'll be at the Varsity on May 7 with all his dangerous
charm. If you're seeing him for the first time, it might scare you: he's a man,
and he knows how to do things.

Wrapping utility boxes in Minneapolis
http://www.tcdailyplanet.net/node/59156
by Staff, Lake Street Council • Lake Street Council is working with the City of
Minneapolis to wrap City-owned utility boxes with eye-catching designs. This is
a perfect way to prevent graffiti and to turn an ugly utility box into a piece
of art, and we want to make this process easier for everyone involved.
COOPER-LAKE DIARY | Tasty pork at Cap's Grille
http://www.tcdailyplanet.net/node/58977
byJim Mork•Cap's Grille, at Hiawatha and 50th Street, is not strictly speaking
in Longfellow. But it fully qualifies as a good destination for the community
without undue travel. I happened to visit there after seeing that the line at
Sea Salt Eatery was too long given the time of the evening. I love fish, but I
love smoked pork. Not sure which I love more.
