On Wednesday night Mark Loesch took his newly built bicycle for a ride...he was found barely breathing on the lawn of a house at 3700 Elliot Ave So... He died Thursday morning. When I heard about this Thursday, I thought he'd been hit by a car...apparently he was beaten... http://www.startribune.com/462/story/1423126.html In a post about the recent beating of Azia restuarant owner Tom Tham...I mentioned this incident on the Midtown Greenway http://midtowngreenway.org/coalition/Assault_Aug_2007.html Was Mark attacked by a "Knock Out" gang? I repeat...What the heck is going on here? These incidents seem to vanish from the media with little followup...what actions are neighborhood associations taking...how are the police responding to this...???? In his post: Critical Mass Takes Over Mpls on Sunday! Charley Underwood said re the Minneapolis Bike Tour on Sunday (in jest): "Scramble the helicopters! Break out the mace! Charge up the tasers! The bike mob is coming to Minneapolis and they are taking over our city!" Mike and his wife Samantha planned to ride in the bike tour on Sunday. Bike mob...take over our city...do whatever it takes to bring the people enacting this violence to justice! Madeline Douglass Kingfield Downtown East
it's a really good question Madeline. At times like this, i really wish i could
summon my psychic powers and get some better info as to who is perpetuating
these brutal acts of violence. i myself was 5 blocks from Elliot on my
bicycle that evening (Wednesday) and realize that it could have easily been me
that was targeted.
i am mostly concerned that witnesses are not stepping forward as it is hard to
believe that someone did not see a man being beaten to death at 10:00 PM on a
weekday evening in a very busy part of town.
These acts require our increased vigilance and community involvement-and
on-going connection with our neighbors...we cannot easily live our lives
without feeling a sense of security and safety..though these acts completely
undermine them-

Because of the location of the murder, the most likely suspects would be
members of the Rolling Thirties Bloods. This criminal family has many members
in Stillwater and St. Cloud prisons, while at least one of them resides in
Leavenworth Fed. prison. However, many more of them live right around where the
homicide happened. Within the Rolling 30s, rarely will you find a male family
member without a scar from a bullet. I can no longer count how many of them
have been murdered by rival gangs or by each other.
As I have observed members of this family over the last 35 years, I have noted
that there is no law, rule, general rule of thumb, curtesy which they are
willing to agree to abide by. From the time they first start walking, they are
more or less on their own. They are not reared, they are dragged up by the
hair. With few exceptions, their base income comes from the county and is
hugely supplemented through their self-created black market economy.
Murder, assault with and without a weapon, fencing stolen goods, prostitution,
drugs, auto theft and theft from autos, burglary, bicycle theft, very expensive
vandalism (not including graffiti) are some of the statutory crimes they
collectively have committed. They pride themselves on never having had to buy a
bicycle.
They generally travel in packs, in cars, on bicycles, and on foot. They are
predatory. The women are equally predatory, though in sometimes different ways.
One grandmother of this family, who usually has several of her teen and young
adult male grandchildren sitting on the front steps in good weather, lives only
three blocks from where Mr. Loesch was murdered. The mother of many of them
lives on Bloomington between 31st and 38th. The children occupy apartments
throughout the area around the mothers and grandmothers. Though I do not know
this, I suspect that the mothers and grandmothers are the
brains/organizers/primary figures behind this gang. Most of the members of the
Rolling 30s are members of one extended family.
