filing fee to get on the ballot for Mayor of Minneapolis. Does it affect the
number of individuals filing affidavits of candidacy for Mayor? My answer is
"yes." At this point there are only 2 declared candidates.
I told the MinnPost reporter that as a result of his contacting me for a
story about the mayoral race, I am considering whether to throw my hat in the
ring.
Naturally, if I run for office the press will refer to me as a "perennial
candidate." Naturally my platform would inspire opposition rather than support
from the DFL establishment as well as the Green Party, for example
If I run for Mayor, I will incorporate into my platform as a mayoral
candidate 4 paragraphs that I got added to the platform of the Green Party of
Minnesota in 2016 and that were later removed from the platform without the
process called for in the constitution and bylaws of the GP MN to remove those
paragraphs (a 2/3 majority vote by a convention to remove the paragraphs is
required).
A) Human Rights 1) Racism
1d. Greens support government enforcement of civil rights laws, targeting both
overt and covert violations that lead to racial disparities in employment and
housing. Covert violations of the civil rights of others, whether intended or
unintended, must be detected and prosecuted in order to achieve full
compliance. This would enhance affirmative action programs and end an era of
token enforcement that allows employment discrimination through minimal
compliance strategies.
1e. The Green Party opposes "color-blind" policies in K-12 education that have
a disparate effect on people of color, such as those that result in schools
attended mostly by children of color having the least experienced teachers.
Under federal education laws, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of
1964, color-blind policies that harm people of color and other protected
classes may be considered violations of the law which require a timely remedy.
M. Education 2) General Policies
2o. Teacher turnover rates should be brought to low levels in all schools.
2p.The Green Party opposes the corporate school reform agenda, including
elimination of teacher tenure and seniority rights, privatization of the public
school system, de-funding of schools in high-need areas, and a curriculum
focusing on standardized testing.
The next unpopular issue to address is covid 19 policies
To this day, the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control
are discouraging doctors from offering medical treatment for infections of SARS
cov-2 outside of a hospital setting. The FDA has approved no treatments for
SARS cov-2 from time of symptom onset until after hospital admission, not even
on an emergency use basis. In most states, hydroxychloroquine was effectively
banned for use on outpaitents and nursing home patients based on the
scientifically unfounded that it is an extremely dangerous medication.
Hydroxychloroquine has been on the World Health Organization's short list of
essential and safe medications many years. HCQ was considered to be effective
against the first SARS corona virus and was "standard of care" in South Korea
according to a South Korean medical journal on Feb. 8, 2020. In France, HCQ was
sold over the counter for many years prior to January 2020, when it was
reclassified as a class 2 poison and made available by prescription only.
However, in much of the world, hydroxychloroquine is sold over the counter and
hydroxychloroquine together with zinc and azithromycin is currently standard of
care in countries where 80% of world's population resides and where covid 19
deaths are orders of magnitude less than in the US and other countries that
banned or severely restricted the use of hydroxychloroquine.
There is also mounting evidence that the Vitamin D deficiency increases one's
susceptibility and likelihood of becoming seriously injured or killed by an
infection with SARS cov-2. It is estimated that 42% of the US population, with
the incidence much higher in individuals who have dark skin, and are very
over-weight. Vitamin D deficiency is common in the elderly population because
the skin's ability to synthesize vitamin D declines with age.
A reason for treating a SARS cov-2 patient with Azithromycin prior to the
development of a bacterial infection is that SARS cov-2 causes inflammation in
the lungs that set someone up for a bacterial infection. Azithromycin also has
anti-inflammatory and strengthens an immune response that contains and kills
pathogenic microbes and viruses.
Lockdowns, social distancing, restrictions on gathering, masking
The preferred covid 19 public health policies involve infringements on first
amendment rights to assemble, especially for political and religious reasons.
The shutting down of businesses has produced very high unemployment rates and
greatly increased poverty, which increases mental health problems. Social
distancing and social isolation add to that. Use of anti-depressants has
increased 6 fold.
The mask mandate issued by Governor Walz has an exemption for people whose
health is impaired by wearing a mask. However, under Executive Order 20-81 and
the proposed mask law, no one over the age of 2 may refuse to wear a mask in
any public space, even those to whom the health exemption applies. You cannot
be legally unmasked anywhere indoors except for your own dwelling unit (e.g.
house or apartment). The result is extreme social isolation, unemployment and
restricted access to medical care for many those who cannot tolerate masks,
especially those living alone.
It has been the practice under EO 20-81 for Health care facilities to not allow
anyone to go unmasked, and the proposed mask law exempts health care facilities
from the paragraph that exempts individuals whose health is impaired by wearing
a mask from wearing a mask. MN OSHA has made mask wearing a requirement of
many jobs. And OHSA and the Department of Health have used their power to fine
businesses in order to get business to forbid anyone not wearing a mask to get
service or even be present in a place of business.
In Minnesota, covid 19 deaths among those under 20 years old went from zero to
one last week. The odds of having a confirmed case of SARS cov-2 and dying is
less than 1 in 1,000 for every 5 year age bracket below the age of 50,
according to the MN dept of health. The seasonal flu is much deadlier. Nursing
home residents account for about 45% of covid 19 deaths In the US, and about
80% in Minnesota. St. Therese in New Hope, MN lose 25% of its residents to
covid 19 in a single outbreak.
The median age of covid 19 fatalities is in the 80 to 84 age bracket, and
people over 65 account for most covid 19 deaths in MN and the US, the lions
share live in nursing homes. There is a financial incentive to prevent and deny
effective medical treatment to these cohorts, whose average utilization of
medical service and prescription drugs is very high, and most are getting
social security pensions and pensions from retirement plans.
