Lilligren is running against DFL-endorsed candidate Abdi Warsame for Sixth Ward
Council. I know it alarms me!
It certainly would be overkill for the DFL politburo to pay Council Member
Lilligren a call, convince him to desist or ask him to step down from his
Potemkin-leadership position on the Council. Spell-it-out: endorsement edging’s
expressly prohibited by DFL bylaws.
The Council Member’s rationale for opposing the DFL endorsee is ‘widespread
irregularities’ (i.e., the Ward 6 DFL decided to hold the endorsing convention
despite evidence that the Council Member would not be prevail.)
I am forced to use a trite cliché that’s especially apropos here, ‘What’s sauce
for the goose is sauce for the gander.’
Why can Robert Lilligren violate DFL bylaws by opposing an endorsed candidate
without disapprobation from our Minneapolis Issues Forum men folk while Meg
Tuthill cannot?

‘/////BREAKING CAMPAIGN NEWS////
Dear Constituents of the Minneapolis 6th Ward:
It was great to see so much participation, especially among first time
participants, at the April 16th 6th Ward DFL caucuses. Unfortunately, there
were also widespread irregularities reported at the Ward 6 caucuses that have
prompted several challenges to be filed to the Minneapolis DFL.
I believe in the caucus process. It typically is one of our best examples of
debate, discussion, and democracy. It saddens me that events during the April
16th caucuses did not live up to this example. Because of these reported
irregularities, I feel there are too many unanswered questions to move forward
with the DFL endorsement process. Despite these concerns, the Ward 6 DFL has
decided to hold the endorsing convention as previously scheduled.
Because of that decision, I have chosen not to seek the DFL endorsement and
will continue my campaign to the General Election in November. Our ward
deserves a fair and honest debate, and we need a fair and honest process to do
so. I look forward to having that debate leading up to the General Election on
November 5th.
Thanks,
Robert Lilligren’
