defund and dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department, many of the Minneapolis
Park Board who voted to cut ties and end a working relationship with the MPD
were also voted off the Board in last November’s election.
So-called progressives, such as At-Large Commissioner Londel French and
District 3 Commissioner AK Hassan were unseated. Both of these former
Commissioners had been endorsed by far-left groups such as Our Revolution, Twin
Cities, which had also endorsed candidates for the Minneapolis City Council and
Minneapolis Mayor, who supported measures to defund/dismantle the police.
Now that the pandemic is in a new phase, more events are being planned for the
parks, and apparently, there aren’t enough Park police to provide adequate
security, without the help of the MPD.
