Jan Sandberg sent these to me on behalf of the 2012 Redistricting Group of
the Minneapolis Charter Commission with the following information from
him.
Thanks, Scott Vreeland
Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Commissioner District # 3
(612) 721-7892
The proposed changes were to three of the current districts. District 2
(North Minneapolis) has too few people so it is proposed to expand into the
Harrison neighborhood (currently District 4). District 3 has too many
people and gives up a few to make up for those taken from District 4. The
only
line changes on this draft are to Districts 2, 3 and 4. All Districts are
within the 5% limit.
If you have any comments about this or any map under discussion, please
forward to
<email obscured>
All comments will become part of the public record.
Please note that this is an iterative process. The official proposed
draft map will be reviewed at a public hearing.
Given the requirements of State statutes, the Redistricting Group has less
than two months to complete the process for redistricting the City's 13
wards. There is a bit more time to complete park districts. A short notice was
included in the January 27 issue of Minneapolis inTouch, but I am
including more detail here.
For information about the redistricting process, including timelines and
the work of the 2012 Redistricting Group, see the Redistricting 2012 website
at www.minneapolismn.gov/redistricting2012.
Note that all public comments, whether at meetings or submitted before a
meeting, are posted on the website with the agenda for the meeting. The
various iterations of maps are also posted as part of the meeting agenda on
the
Schedule and Agendas of Redistricting Group Meetings website at
http://www.minneapolismn.gov/redistricting2012/WCMS1Q-068890
All maps discussed at Redistricting Group meetings are posted on the Draft
Minneapolis Redistricting Plans website at
