of the current parking requirements for multi-family and OR zoning district
buildings that are within 350 feet of a bus line or LRT line (some: within
a quarter-mile, or a half-mile of a bus or light rail line). I don't
believe this has been publicly discussed yet?
This would be an **automatic** elimination of the current requirement to
provide parking spaces, and developers would not even have to apply for
city permission to provide zero parking for an apartment building or a
condo building, or a mixed use building in the OR areas.
This apparently means to "incentivize" building along LRT lines and bus
lines, but without improving bus service in any way; this seems like a huge
"gift" to developers, to hurry development along transit lines, without
much public discussion.
My understanding is that this is CM Lisa Bender's proposal. People in the
know in Minneapolis expected some eventual proposal to reduce parking
requirements. They did not expect these requirements to be eliminated in
one fell swoop.
Here's the link to the text amendment eliminating 100% of the required
parking for new developments within 350 ft from transit stops in which a
bus comes every 15 minutes.

Look towards the bottom of the page for documents and meeting schedules.
It will be reviewed at the June 15 planning commission meeting and this
would likely be the only public hearing on this proposal after the one open
house to discuss this sweeping change.
