Judge Philip Bush has been a judge for the past 19 years and this year he has
an opponent.
This opponent filed by the name of Eugene Link. Well, there is an attorney by
the name of Eugene Link, but he is a corporate counsel for Target Corp. and not
the candidate running against Judge Bush
The true name of Judge Bushs opponent is Allen Eugene Link. He is an attorney
for Regis Hair. This opponents next door neighbor just happens to be a reliable
source and he told this next door neighbor that he was running against Judge
Bush because as he was wondering what he should do for a job, when he saw Bush
on the ballot, he decided to run against him simply because of name recognition
and the Bush name is quite unfavorable during this election year. Given, that
many will be out voting for Obama and if they turn the ballot over and see the
name Bush, they may likely vote for the other candidate. This is Eugene Links
hope to be sitting on the bench in District Court and deciding serious court
matters! This opponent does not even litigate in the courtroom.
He deceived in his name filing for the position and he is deceiving in his
reason for running against Judge Bush. He does not want his credentials known
and he did not sit in any of the forum/debates scheduled for the candidates. He
is doing no campaigning (so he said to a retired judge who called him to find
out more about him). It is solely name recognition.
Judge Bush is highly respected by the legal community. He is not only an
experienced judge, he has a strong sense of justice. He is dedicated, well
prepared and hardworking. Believe me, I know the hard working end of it!
What I am asking is on November 4th, please, when you go to the polls to vote
for our President of the United States , please remember to turn your ballot
over, and vote for Judge Philip Bush, the Incumbent. And, if you could, could
you please forward this email along to your friends and family in Hennepin
County asking your friends and family to do the same?
If you would like me to post a Re-elect Judge Bush lawn sign in your
yard, please e-mail me offlist and I will forward it to my friend.
While the above is my friends plea, I also have some personal history with
Judge Bush. We had a family living across the street from us and the husband
was severely abusive. He beat the family regularly and was sexually abusing the
13 year olf daughter from the time she was 10 years of age. The father did not
work and was a severe alcoholic. The mother got a job and when she would go to
work the father would begin the sexual abuse. The daughter finally got up the
nerve to do something about it. She hid a knife in her room and when the father
came in for the usual ritual she held him at bay with the knife and ran to a
friends for help. The friends mother called child protection. They investigated
the charges. The father was not arrested immediately which created a lot of
trauma for the daughter. On the day he was supposed to be arrested (he didn't
know but the rest of us did) he got drunk and was walking around the
neighborhood with a 40 ounce shouting at
people and acting crazy. He took a knife and threatened to kill himself out in
the yard. The daughter and son ran to our house for refuge. We called the
police. The father was taken to Hennepin County for a suicide watch or hold or
whatever it is called. I called the child protection investigator and told her
they would find him at the hospital.
The mother in this family was overwhelmed with the legal issues. I agreed to be
an advocate for her to help get her through this. She met this man when she was
14 and he was 28 so the statutory rape started long ago. She has very low
self-esteem. The attorney for the father was pushing for probation instead of a
jail term. The prosecuting attorney was considering it until I intervened and
pushed for the maximum jail sentence possible if for no other reason than the
safety of the family. Judge Bush agreed and sentenced the father to 7 years in
jail. This term is long enough that all but one child will be an adult by the
time he gets out.
Judge Bush is a very compassionate judge and has had to deal with cases of
every sort and nature and judges are switched around from one court to another.
