Post in So that's where they went
I think it would be great if there was a chart/spreadsheet out there that told us where all the journalists no longer attached to print have gone. As Wizard says, this is great...also saw Linda Mack and Al Sickerman here: http://www.minnpost.com/ Dan Haugen of the Northeast Beat who also teaches community news blogging classes is moving to Twin Cities Daily Planet... http://northeastbeat.com/2007/11/15/the-big-news-building-a-new-beat/ So we have this migration of some of our best journalists from print to web... RSS feeds could be subscribed to after downloading RSS feed reader software ...Anyone subscribe to the Community Newswire feed of the Twin Cities DailyPlanet? I still enjoy reading print...and will go find print copies of these even though they are also available electronically... of The Bridge (also has a great website) The Alley (pdfs are now on the Lake Street Council site) and Hill and Lake Press (pdfs are available on the paper's site) The Downtown Journal and Southwest Journal are easily available where I circulate so a search isn't needed for those and Mike Metzger is doing excellent work on their websites... But now that the Ads have just about devoured what's left of the Strib...reading the print is only occassionally informative...I do supplement by reading the website... but some of the ads on the site can aggressively intrude their Speaking of ad revenues...are ads and subscription fees the ONLY source of income for our media? How will the news websites sustain themselves and grow? How can they pay their journalists a salary they can live on? Advertising for MinnPost seems limited to "non-profit" sources for now...subscription fees...even if they get lots of subscribers don't seem substantial enough Just wonder how MinnPost and these will survive and thrive... http://www.minnesotamonitor.com/magFront.do http://www.tcdailyplanet.net/ Madeline Douglass Kingfield Downtown East
