Post in The continuing public moritification of Dean Zimmermann
I find this exercise tedious.
If you really hated Dean Zimmermann's taxi2000 project (I didn't care for it
myself,) suddenly felt that people who didn't deserve to be represented were,
hated his stand on abuse of power by law enforcement, and had several personal
axes to grind with him, then you think he's guilty and you're never ever ever
going to stop bitching about it. You won't even be happy with his honorable
defeat in a democratic election.
You want him humiliated, in prison and when he goes there, you will have a
party celebrating the devastation of his personal life. When he gets out, you
will no doubt remind him of it forever.
I think that's disgusting!
For comparison, did we treat Joe Biernat the same way? do we bring it up again
and again and do we grill Northeast DFLers on their previous support of him?
We don't, and we shouldn't. I strongly disagreed with him on almost every
issue and felt that he was very prickly and abrasive toward those with whom he
disagreed. I never got over his attitude toward the Hard Times.
No one however suggested throwing a "conviction party" when he was blatantly
abused by an over zealous FBI agent. I think most people recognized he'd done
wrong and wished him well. It sort of made him human.
He served his time and we don't bring it up over and over and over again. For
what it's worth, I also think that Joe was a political target, for reasons that
are too long and difficult to explain on this forum.
I suppose I might hold a party if Cheney was impeached and convicted, but
you're out of your mind of you think Dean's crimes, such as they are, are
anywhere near that magnitude.
Be Fair.
