Job Title: Teacher /Youth Employment Specialist
Reports To: Director of Menlo Park Academy
Status: Full Time, Exempt
Site: Menlo Park Academy, a 70 student alternative high school
Summary
Responsible daily for four to five classroom hours of teaching at-risk high
school students. Includes half of the time devoted to the Youth Employment
Specialist portion, offering a specific curriculum in soft-skills around
employment and careers. As well as developing language arts/Social Studies
(based on License) curriculum to meet the State Standards. Works with the
Director to develop and carry-out day-to-day programming in 70 student
alternative high school.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Valid Minnesota Teaching License.
English Language Arts (Grades 5-12) License or Secondary Social Studies

internship hosts

* Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Teaches assigned hours M-F, high school level classes in English or
Social Studies (based on license) and Employment and Career Skills
* Plan culturally appropriate lessons to ensure young people are able
to master the key work/career readiness competencies as determined by the Jobs
For America's Graduates Alternative Model through a variety of methods, such as
project based learning, experiential learning, hands on activities, one on one
learning. Includes developing workshops that serve people facing employment
barriers due to having a criminal background.
* Maintain contact with program completers monthly through a variety of
different communication vehicles to ensure ongoing progress on the identified
career plan for one year after program completion.
* Collaborate weekly with the ALC Plus Case Coordinator to hold youth
study team ensure full support services for young people to meet their
immediate and future goals.
* Establish and maintain employment relationships with various vendors
in order to secure job leads, internships, and/or training opportunities for
participants.
* Complies with all documentation requirements and timelines.
* Maintains confidentiality of work/school related issues, records and
data.
* Participates in staff, regional, and statewide meetings, and staff
development activities.
Compensation: $17.50-$19.00 per hour depending on qualifications.
