POSITION: PROGRAM MANAGER, KINSHIP OF GREATER TWIN CITIES (KGTC)
REPORTS TO: GMCC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The program manager's core responsibility it to meet all
quality, system, and outreach components of the Kinship program as it relates
to meeting the mission of Kinship which is to place children in mentoring
relationships with caring adults.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Serving as the SOUTH Twin Cities LEAD, seek, secure, screen, train,
coach/guide mentors (and their families) through the mentoring process by
facilitating and leading mentor trainings, information sessions, and conducting
interviews. Additional duties include, but not limited to, critically reviewing
and analyzing applications, references, and background checks.
2. Manage dedicated staff and participate in the establishing and support of
on-going community partnerships with churches, businesses, and schools to
assist with recruiting children and mentors, meeting all education and advocacy
goals.
3. Manage dedicated staff and support/participate in the implementation of
Kinship/community events in support of overall Kinship programming.
4. Oversee all marketing communications and social media strategies, including
work with Enews, Twitter and blogs.
5. Oversee all administrative functions such as managing needed correspondence,
staff support and supervision, reports, funding proposals/reports and entering
database information.
6. Analyze the data obtained to ensure that Kinship is moving in the direction
of our goals, and implementing best practices.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Ability to work effectively and respectfully with various people groups,
colleagues, community members, and community organizations, etc.
2. Support the mission of the organization and the program, while generating
goodwill with staff, clients, community members, and community organizations.
3. This position requires driving to community agencies, churches, potential
mentor and mentee homes, and other locations as required.
4. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS/WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Master of Social Work (MSW) required. Educational background in Child
Development, Urban Studies, or Psychology also desirable.
2. General knowledge of family systems, child development, community resources,
and applicable interviewing techniques
3. Conceptual thinking skills and the ability to identify and analyze issues
and offer solutions.
4. Demonstrated skill and proficiency with Windows-based computer applications
and working knowledge of how to use a database.
5. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and accurately follow-through on work
activities
6. Ability to communicate clearly and diplomatically, both orally and in
written form, with adults and children from various backgrounds.
7. Ability to balance multiple tasks, to prioritize multiple needs, and be
organized at a professional pace.
8. Some evening and weekend work required.
9. A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation required.
Position Classification
This is a 1.0 FTE non-exempt position that includes competitive employee
benefits (retirement, health, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, etc.) Salary range:
$51,000 - 57,000 based on skills and experience.
