back from Lonnie the MPRB community planner for our region but I
guess I'll go ahead now and report what Carol said, with the caveat
that this may not be complete information.
Carol confirmed that the wading pool needs repairs and the plan is
for it to remain closed this summer. The new information is that she
said that a proposal is on the table to convert it to a "splash pad."
(I had to google it to learn what it is.) She compared it to Wabun
Park, but according to some pictures I looked at, the Wabun pool is
deeper than a splash pad.
Carol said at this stage it is a staff proposal and that at some
point it will be presented to the board.
I realize this raises more questions than it answers. I'll let you
know what if anything I learn from Lonnie. My main question for him
is what is the process for community involvement in this decision.
I was super bummed to learn that we'll have no Lk Hiawatha wading
pool this summer (we live one block away and I have a two year old
who loves water more than his mom I think) but if that means we'll
get something like Wabun, I say bring it on.
