*- Sat, June 10-14 - Minnesota Bicycle Festival.* Features bike and fitness
expos at each venue. Youll find all the latest and greatest gear and
gadgets, info on clubs, programs and events, and much more. Multiple
locations and events. Stage #4, The Criterium, will be in Uptown on Friday,
June 12 at 6 p.m. This is an all new course, replacing the traditional
Minneapolis Downtown Classic, previously held around Peavey Plaza since
2003. The Uptown location was selected for 2009 because its very bicycle
friendly. Teams will race past Calhoun Square along a 1.2 km L-shaped route

around the 38th St LRT Station. Meeting to address safety concerns around
the station. Goals for the meeting are: 1. Identify the problems 2. Clarify

*- Sat, June 20, 11:00 a.m. -* *Listening Vessel dedication at Lake
Hiawatha Park*. Includes refreshments and music. The sculpture is located on
the north side of the recreation center. Listening Vessel is a granite
sculpture depicting a parabola, an interactive listening device in the shape
of a concave semi-sphere. The sounds from the lake, such as wind, waves,
waterfowl and other sounds of the city will be amplified to the listeners
ear. The sculpture measures 74 x 120 x 24. According to Craig David, the
work encourages viewers to explore the natural environment of Lake Hiawatha,
as well as their own inner musings and imagination. The sculpture is a joint
project of the City of Minneapolis Art in Public Places, Minneapolis Arts
Commission, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and Standish-Ericsson

- *Music to your ears free concerts in the parks!* Minneapolis Park and
Recreation Board summer concert season is underway. Featuring over 220 free
outdoor concerts, the 2009 Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB)
summer concert season begins the first week in June at four concert venues:
Lake Harriet Band Shell, Minnehaha Falls Park, Father Hennepin Bluffs Park
