*What:* A conversation among neighborhood families and Sullivan school
administrators.
*When:* Saturday, March 17 - 9:30-11am
*Where:* Anne Sullivan Communication Center, 3100 E 28th Street
*Who:* All are welcome, though the conversation may be most beneficial to
families with young children in Sullivan's enrollment area (Cedar
Riverside, Seward, Northern Longfellow).
*Why:* Sullivan is the neighborhood school for Cedar-Riverside, Seward and
northern Longfellow. This is a relatively diverse set of neighborhoods with
the potential to generate a diverse student body at Sullivan, however the
school is currently 84% African American and 95% Free/Reduced Lunch. This
lack of racial and socioeconomic diversity is unfortunate given research
about the benefits of integration for all students. This gathering is an
opportunity for families to learn more about Sullivan and share with
administrators what they are looking for in a school in the hopes of
integrating the school over the next several years.
