Post in sng-board] 3 dead after shooting at Seward Market
I, too, am deeply saddened by this event, and I wonder whether others would like to respond to it in some way to show that the Seward community--its Somali and non-Somali residents--condemns this violence. A candlelight/flashlight vigil at 7:45 p.m. tonight (the time of the shooting yesterday), for example, in front of Seward Market might be a way to make a statement for peace. Another idea, for a more artistic soul, is to create t-shirts and sell them throughout Seward that say "Seward--A Pretty Good Neighborhood" with "pretty good" crossed out and "Great" written over it. In the Star-Tribune story today, this description of Seward was mentioned twice, and I think such faint praise for Seward also warrants a response. Fran Vavrus (24th Ave)
