I am reaching out to ask for your support, and to share testimonials from our
State Representatives Ilhan Omar, Karen Clark and Jim Davnie on why I am their
first choice. My experience as an organizer and advocate for my community in
Minneapolis is something I am proud to share. I am proud to have gained the
support of these progressive leaders, and would be equally proud to gain yours
on November 7th. Please find below three quotes from our neighbors in District
3, who also happen to be our advocates at the State Capitol:
"Civic engagement is something AK and I connect on- we are nerds like that. I
am proud to cast my ballot for AK. He is smart, passionate about community and
our parks, and most importantly he is beloved by everyone who meets him. He is
a strong community leader, and his endorsements display the kind of passion and
know-how he will bring to strengthening Minneapolis parks through community
building."
Rep. Ilhan Omar (60b)
"AK has fought for Phillips Community as an engaged and energized advocate. I
know he will do the same for District 3 as our Park Board Commissioner. He
helped bring the Phillips Community Aquatic Center back to Phillips through his
work as Neighborhood Chair of Ventura Village. It is this kind of experience
and ability to foster community that delivers results, and sets AK apart from
his peers and the field of candidates."
Karen Clark (62a)
"AK gets the passion for parks because he has it. He understands how central
they are to our quality of life in Minneapolis. The parks are an asset; he
understands that. He understands about relationship building and making the
city work better by working with those institutions that care, support and
build opportunity for our families. We need more of that in the Park Board, and
more of that in the city."
Jim Davnie (63a)
Parks empowered me in my youth. I know we have an opportunity to empower more
kids, families and workers throughout the city of Minneapolis with strong park
funding, recreational opportunities for our kids and seniors, and greater
accessibility to our wonderful parks and programming. A main goal of the MPRB
is to enrich the lives of Minneapolis residents. In turn, I believe it is the
responsibility of the Park Board to always improve on how this promise is
delivered.
Our parks are the best in the country, and I will work every day to keep it
this way. I will also work to help bring awareness and advocacy to the issues
where we can still improve and make our parks more accessible, equitable and
community-driven spaces, no matter what neighborhood we reside in.
