My name is Mallory; I'm a Powderhorn resident and I work at Gardening
Matters, a nonprofit that works with gardeners in the Twin Cities. We have
a program called the Local Food Resource Hubs, which is a membership
program that supports residents in growing their own food. You pay a fee,
then get access to this network of gardeners that support each other to
grow, cook, and preserve their own fresh produce. Within the network you
can attend (and teach!) low-cost or free classes on gardening topics,
participate in social events and workdays, and receive discounted seeds and
plants. There are 5 Hubs, and the Southside Hub (mostly
Powderhorn-Corcoran-Central) is having an event this *Saturday, February
18th, 12:00-3:00 at the Powderhorn Park Building.* We will be packing the
seeds used for the Hub, meeting fellow Hub members and neighbors, and there
will also be Master Gardeners present with helpful information. Come to
learn more about the program and to meet your fellow garden enthusiasts in
the neighborhood. This event is a potluck, so please bring a dish if you
are able! Hope to see you there!
Thanks,
Mallory Morken
