You can join in tomorrow, Tuesday with a short intro meeting at St.
Helena's Parish Office at 2 pm and then join the group at Little Sisters of
the Poor nursing home over in St. Paul.
My kids have played the piano a bunch of times and it is a great community
service. I've seen violin, cornet, guitar, singing, flute, and a bunch of
Asian instruments brought by a particular participant. All ages. Each
participant plays 2-4 songs depending upon performer turn-out.
In the school season the Music Troupe is primarily on Saturday afternoons.
Our kids have performed at Providence Place, the Veterans Home, and a
nursing home in N. Mpls in addition to Little Sisters off West 7th in St.
Paul. Kids playing beginner tunes are looooved by the seniors as are adults
dusting off an instrument.
Anyway, non-parishioners do participate and if you are interested give Jon
Sondag a call at 612-729-7321 and he will tell you more!
From the church website:
Music Outreach: St. Helena Musical Troupe is a small group of adults and
children to make visits to various nursing homes to bring the joy of music
to residents. The performers take turns singing or playing instruments,
and then lead the residents in a few songs. If you are interested in
getting involved in this important ministry, please contact John Sondag at
612-729-7321.
