WCCO is reporting a possible cougar sighting in NE Mpls (Monday near St.
Anthony Pkwy). Now there's been a supposed 2nd sighting. This is all the info I
have, but it's also on their website.

The committee rescheduled this meeting to 1/14 at 9a, fyi. We're hoping it
sails through for 2010 pedestrian lighting installation.

Subject: [Mpls-NE] New Streetlights in the Sheridan Neighborhood
I'm up early and skimming City Council committee agendas.
It looks like the Transportation & Public Works Committee may sign-off
this morning on new streetlights for 13th Ave. NE and 2nd St. NE.
Here's from the agenda materials:
Subject: Sheridan neighborhood requested streetlight project on 13th
Ave NE and 2nd St NE
Recommendation:
a. Authorize proper city officials to enter into an agreement with
Sheridan Neighborhood Organization (SNO) and the Minneapolis
Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) to facilitate the
installation of low level street lighting along 13th Ave NE between
Main St. and 6th St NE and along 2nd St NE between 12th and 14th Ave
NE.
b. Increase Traffic and Parking Services field operations capital
expense fund 04100-9010943 by $300,000 to be 100% reimbursed by SNO
and NRP into 04100-9010943-322502 revenue for the installation of
street lighting on 13th Ave NE and 2nd St NE.
Background/Supporting Information
The Sheridan Neighborhood Organization (SNO) has sought to install low
level pedestrian lights in the business corridor of 13th Ave NE and
the adjacent blocks of 2nd Street NE. The SNO has committed to
covering 10% of the project from their general fund and has received
permission from the Minneapolis Neighborhood Revitalization Program
(NRP) to allocate neighborhood dedicated funds to cover the other 90%
up to a total of $266,400. The project revenues are:
$266,400 SNO NRP funds
$ 29,600 SNO general funds
$296,000 Total
This action will allow Public Works Traffic & Parking Services to
enter into an agreement with SNO and NRP to design and install low
level pedestrian street lighting along the previously described 13th
Ave NE corridor utilizing the available funds. This installation will
conform to the approved Minneapolis Street Light Policy.
