due to budget cuts, but now it is being beefed up to handle the influx of
Minneapolis high school students who will be riding the transit bus this
school year. Yellow school buses will no longer be provided at five city
high schools, including Edison. Since many Edison students live in North
Minneapolis, and many Henry students live in Northeast, it is necessary to
add additional trips to Route 32, which has operated on Lowry Avenue for
decades (although it did change route numbers in the 1990's).
Beginning August 27, service will operate every half hour from around 7am
until 7:30pm, which is a boost from the largely hourly service we have now.
At school start times, larger numbers of trips will operate and will
actually pull in to Edison.
This will be a transition, as buses across town are sure to be a bit more
crowded than before (notably on the 10, 17 and 32 in our area), but there
is some benefit to the community to have added service along Lowry.
