Fall Garden Workday
Saturday, October 28th
9 am β 2 pm
Coffee, lunch and tools will be provided.
Calling all parents, students and community members to come for a fun fall
workday in the garden! We are building a 100β fence to finish enclosing the
new Seward Montessori Peace Garden. In addition weβll be weeding and
cleaning up the garden for winter. There will be tasks for all sizes and
skill sets. No experience necessary, but we especially need strong diggers
and sharp spades for digging 14 post holes! You don't have to come for the
whole time - just come when you're able.
The original Seward Peace Garden existed as a community garden for 20 years
until the school's new cafeteria and kitchen took over the space. The new
location is in front of Matthews Park and is a collaboration with Seward
Montessori and Matthews Park. We are currently looking for more community
members to get involved in the garden - helping plan for spring projects
and planting, working with teachers next spring, and helping care for the
garden in the summer. If you would like to get involved please contact
Hillary or join the Seward Garden Group
<https://www.facebook.com/groups/307651752578595/> on Facebook.
Thank you to Birchwood Cafe <https://www.facebook.com/BirchwoodCafe/> for
donating coffee & treats, and the Seward Montessori School PTA for
sponsoring lunch!
