Ready to pursue a high-wage career in facilities engineering, operations, and
maintenance? Join PPLβs Building Operations Technician (BOT) training program!
BOT is a customized program, run in partnership with Minneapolis Community &
Technical College (MCTC), along with a variety of employer partners (Hennepin
County, State of MN, Johnson Controls, Aeon Housing, to name a few.). This FREE
program will focus on creating a pipeline of skilled workers for the facilities
operations and maintenance sectors. Students in this program will participate
in 135+ hours of classroom-based training at MCTC, focused on electrical
circuits, motors, HVACR, plumbing, trade tools, and more! Students will be
prepared to take the Special Boilers license exam after classroom hours are
complete. Additionally, students will receive 28 hours of professional
development training, along with networking opportunities with employer
partners, to help prepare them for careers with a variety of organizations.
Upon completion of the class curriculum, students will have a hands-on PAID
internship opportunity with an employer partner. Apply now β program spots are

β’ Class meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. β 9:30 p.m.
Eligibility requirements:
β’ HS Diploma or GED
β’ Pass basic computer assessments (Basics, Internet, Windows 7, Email, MS Word,
Excel)
β’ Desire a career in the operations, maintenance, or building systems field.
β’ Ability to work independently, perform physical tasks daily, and be
comfortable with math, reading and writing.
β’ A criminal record is not an automatic disqualifier.
