suspension of the students I'm surprised there hasn't been any comment on the
appeal hearings recently conducted by the three-person Student Sexual Assualt
Subcommittee.

My initial reaction to the way the University officials are handling these
appeals is not favorable. I agree with the attorney representing one of the
students that each student should have been a separate appeal hearing. I'm not
sure from the news reporting I've followed if all the students, parents and
lawyers are allowed to be present for all the testimony or each student is
testifying individually while the others are out of the room. I get the sense
that everyone has been allowed to be present during the testimony of all the
students, including the female student that filed the complaint. To me
that in unacceptable.
I believe that each student is entitled to privacy regarding their individual
case. I don't see how all the other students and their parents are allowed to
observe all the other student's hearings. That to me violates each individual
student's privacy.
this is a school disciplinary proceeding and those records are private by state
law.
All also find the amount of time the Subcommittee has been allowed to conduct
the hearings is inadequate.
